Frequently Asked:

Bridal Alterations FAQ

A little guidance before your first fitting. Find answers to common questions about alterations, appointments, timelines, and preparing your gown for the big day.

When should I schedule my first fitting?

We recommend scheduling your first fitting approximately 8–12 weeks before your wedding. More extensive alterations may require additional time, so reaching out as soon as you have your gown is always a good idea.

What should I bring to my first fitting?

Bring your wedding gown, the shoes you plan to wear, and any undergarments or shapewear you'll wear on your wedding day. These details can make a significant difference in how your gown fits and falls.

How many fittings will I need?

Most brides need two to three fittings, although every gown is different. The number of appointments depends on the complexity of your alterations and the adjustments needed along the way.

How much do bridal alterations cost?

Pricing depends on the construction of your gown, the fabric, and the alterations requested. We'll evaluate your dress during your consultation and provide an estimate based on the work involved.

Can you alter a gown that is too small or too large?

Often, yes! Depending on the gown's construction and available seam allowances, we may be able to let out or take in certain areas. We'll examine your dress and discuss the options available.

Can you change the neckline or add sleeves?

Many gowns can be customized with neckline adjustments, straps, sleeves, modesty panels, or other design details. The possibilities depend on the gown's structure, materials, and your vision.

What is a bustle, and will I need one?

A bustle lifts and secures your gown's train so you can move more comfortably after the ceremony. If your gown has a train, we'll discuss the different bustle styles and recommend an option that complements your dress.

Can I bring someone to my fitting?

Having a trusted friend or family member with you can be helpful, particularly during your final appointment when we demonstrate how to secure your bustle. Please check our guest policy when booking.

Should I have my gown steamed or pressed before the wedding?

A professional pressing or steaming can help your gown look its best. The appropriate method depends on the fabric, embellishments, and construction. We'll discuss preparation and care during your final appointment.

What happens at my final fitting and pickup?

We'll review the finished fit, walk through your bustle and dressing instructions, and answer any last-minute questions. You'll leave with your gown and the information needed to prepare for your wedding day.
